Excellent Companion Peter G. Outhouse was
born in Digby, Nova Scotia
on February 27, 1959, his parents were Grafton and Annabel (Elliott)
grew up on Long Island, Nova Scotia in a community called Tiverton with
of 150 people. In his opinion this was one of the greatest places in
the world for
a kid to grow up., there was always something to do and if you were
in those days there was no problem finding work.
Companion Outhouse attended Islands Consolidated School in
Freeport and graduated in 1977 with honors and was a recipient of the
Governor of Nova Scotia medal. In 1977 he attended Acadia University
into a Bachelor of Business Administration program.
Companion Outhouse worked in several jobs prior to settling
into his career with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans and later
Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Some of his vocations included; licensed
fisherman, baiting trawl (longline), Assistant Light keeper at Boar's
Island; fish processing at Small Bros Ltd. in Tiverton as a fish
First Mate on board the ferries between Long Island - Briar island and
and received First Mate Ticket; he worked with the Department of
Fisheries and Oceans
and later the CFIA for 34 years, of which the last 26 years was in the
of District Supervisor in Grand Falls-Windsor Newfoundland and finally
Nova Scotia. He received a citation on behalf of the CFIA for his work
Swiss Air disaster, in addition he received the Outstanding Supervisor
1999. M. E. Comp. Outhouse also received an award from the Dept. of
Oceans in 1995 for the development of specialized equipment for use in
which continue to be utilized to this date.
enjoys several types
of hunting, fishing for salmon or trout, hand lining
for cod and haddock, playing golf, riding a four-wheeler and just
in the great outdoors. He especially cherishes his time at the cabin in
Annapolis County, Nova Scotia with his wife Jean.
Companion Outhouse is married to his best friend and companion
Jean (Pardy) Outhouse. They have four children, Michelle Imhoff (Neil),
(Pam), Matthew (Donna) and Kevin, who have all flown the nest and found
prosperous careers. They are especially proud of two beautiful
and Anita, and grandson Spencer, and they are currently awaiting the
another grandson. As parents, both Jean and Peter are very proud of the
of their children, they have grown to be fine men and women.
Companion Outhouse began his Masonic career at Lodge Northcliffe
No. 1086, Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland, where he received his
degree in 1991.

Master in 1999-2001.
